Your roof, drawn and explained.
Describe the roof on the left and see the elevation to scale. Then send the form. We do not do roof work: we explain what is going on and what to ask.

How it works
Describe the roof
Type of covering, what is wrong and approximate sizes. The drawing shows you what you are telling us.
We look at your case
We point you to the right guide for your problem, what you can expect and what to ask whoever does the work.
Decide calmly
With prices that have a source and a date, compare quotes and choose. We do not do roof work.
Where a roof fails
A tiled roof has several layers. Water only gets in when more than one fails at the same time. Knowing which saves unnecessary work.
- aTiles
They break with frost, wind or people walking on them. One tile out of place is enough to let water in.
- bBattens
The battens hold the tiles. With damp, the wood rots and the tiles slip.
- cUnderlay
The second barrier against water. Many old roofs do not have one.
- dInsulation
Without it, heat leaves through the roof in winter and comes in during summer.
- eStructure
Timber, concrete or metal beams. Dark stains or sagging beams call for a specialist.
- fGutter
When it is full of leaves, water overflows and runs down the wall.
- gRidge
The tiles on top sit on mortar, which cracks over time.
